Frequently Asked Questions

How do I contribute online?

You can contribute online using Wolverine Access. Complete instructions can be found on our Instructions page.

When do the deductions begin to come out of my paycheck?

Deductions will be taken one time per month beginning in January 2008.

To whom can I designate?

Any 501(c)3 Organization. To locate the Agency Code/Account Number for a designation, look at the Frequently Designated List, or the Washtenaw United Way Designated Agencies list. You can also write-in their name and address on the pledge card.

How much did I give to the campaign last year?

If you gave using payroll deduction, you can access the information from Wolverine Access via Employee Business > Payroll Deduction > AAUW-UM United Way; this will show your monthly deduction, total pledged and current balance.
Or, call the University United Way office at (734)763-3109, or email us. You will need to provide your UMID number.

When you split up amounts between different agencies or funds, do you designate the amount in terms of amount per month or amount per year?

The amount that you designate for each is per year.

Can you do a payroll deduction for less than 12 months?

Yes, sometimes it is necessary as someone knows they will retire before the year is up or they have a seasonal appointment.

Can I give stock for my United Way contribution?

Yes, on your pledge card indicate that this is a stock contribution. To do the actual transfer, call Marjo Daum, 734-677-7212, at Washtenaw United Way to get specific information on account numbers. The Washtenaw United Way will inform the University United Way Office of the actual amount.

Do I need to return the donor card if I do not intend to make a contribution?

No, you do not have to do anything if you do not intend to contribute.

Can I put the envelope or card in campus mail?

Yes, that would be fine as long as there is not cash enclosed.
