Instructions for completing your University of Michigan United Way Pledge Card, or
Instructions for making your contribution online via Wolverine Access
Instructions & Tips for all contributors:
- If you are making a cash contribution, please do not use campus mail. Call (734) 763-3109 to make arrangements for pick-up.
- If your spouse is also an employee of the University, and you would like your pledge tallied jointly, please use the space near the lower edge of the pledge form to indicate:
- Your spouse's EMPLID number and name
- Which person should have the deduction taken from his/her paycheck
- If you are not making an anonymous donation, how you would like your acknowledgement to be addressed (i.e. Mr. Robert & Mrs. Jane Jones)
- If you are making a Leadership gift of $1000 or more, please write your name(s) as you would like it (them) to appear in the Washtenaw United Way LGA Directory near the lower edge of your pledge card. "Anonymous" is also an option.
- You may designate all or any portion of your pledge to the Community Investment Fund, Targeted Initiatives such as Success by Six, Power of the Purse or 211, or any organization on the list of Frequently Designated Agencies (PDF), or on the List of Agencies (PDF), or
to any 501(c)3 organization that is not listed by writing their name and address at the bottom of the pledge card. You may find it helpful to review the agency lists first.

To Return your Pledge Card in the mail:
- Peel the label from the envelope and place the label over the employee name portion of the pledge card.
- Complete the pledge card (see above for tips).
- Sign the pledge card and return via campus mail in the envelope provided.
- If you have lost your label or envelope, complete the pledge card, sign and place in campus mail to the address below.
To Print a Form from the Website and Place in Campus Mail
- Use this Pledge Card link to access the form.
- Print the form.
- See above for tips on filling out the pledge form.
- Sign on the bottom and place in campus mail to the address below.
To arrange Payroll Deduction through Wolverine Access:
- NOTE: If you intend to designate your pledge, you may find it helpful to review the agency list and record the code number(s) you wish to use prior to the Log-in at Wolverine Access. CAUTION: Wolverine Access will time-out.
- Go to Wolverine Access and login at Employee Business.
- Click the link for Payroll Deduction, under Payroll & Benefits. You will see any current deductions for 2007, including the current United Way deduction.
- Click "Add Deduction".
- On the Add Voluntary Deduction page:
- Next to "Type of Deduction", click the magnifying glass icon to go to the deduction description page.
- Click on AAUW - UM United Way
- Enter amount to be deducted each month.
- Enter the total amount of your pledge.
- If you wish your contribution to be directed to the Washtenaw United Way Community fund, click "Save".
- If you wish to designate all or part of your gift to any 501(c)3 organization, click "Designate Contribution Here", then click on the magnifying glass next to "Agency Code".
Find the agency you wish to designate your contribution towards. Click on the "Agency Number". The agency name and code number will automatically fill in.
- Fill in the pledge amount. To add additional agencies, click on the "+" sign to the right of the Agency Code and Pledge Amount box.
- If you are finished with your designation(s), click "OK".
- To complete your contribution click "Save".
- Your saved deduction will show as confirmed. A confirmation email will be sent to every contributor.
